An approach to understanding language issues in the real world. The topics represented within the programme draw from some of the related disciplines within Applied Linguistics such as Computational Linguistics, Forensic Linguistics, Communications in the professions, Teaching Languages for Specific Purposes, and Information and Communication Technologies.

The master’s programme encourages students to develop a broad theoretical base reflecting cutting-edge research within Applied Linguistics and related disciplines. Additionally, this programme makes links between the different disciplines which contribute to our improved knowledge of the application of specialised and technical linguistic knowledge in a wide range of professional contexts.  The Master’s programme consists of twelve taught modules and one research dissertation.  Applicants can take either the full programme in one academic year (60 ECTS credits), in two academic years (30 ECTS per year), or in four academic years (15 ECTS credits per year).
